  • DEFENDING champions Scotiabank 'A' defeated arch-rivals General Accident 21-14 to retain their hold on the Wisynco-sponsored 2010 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Open League title at the Leila Robinson Courts last Saturday.

    The victory gave the bankers their third hold on the Open League title, having first won it in 2007, before losing it to General Accident in 2008. They regained it last year and repeated this year. However, General Accident have won it more than any other team.

    TORONTO: Scotiabank has been named the "Best Consumer Internet Bank" in twenty Caribbean countries by a major international financial magazine. Global Finance also recognized Scotiabank St. Maarten with the "Best Corporate/Institutional Internet Bank" award in its World's Best Internet Banks competition in Latin America. The rankings will be published in the September 2010 issue of Global Finance.

  • August 28, 2010: REIGNING champions Scotiabank 'A' take on Scotiabank 'B' as the 2010 Business House Netball Association (BHNA) Divisional Leagues competition gets underway today at the Leila Robinson Courts starting at 3:00 pm.

    The Super League encounter between Scotiabank 'A' and Scotiabank 'B' is scheduled to begin at 5:10 pm.

    Champions Scotiabank 'A' will be bouncing from their Open League triumph over arch-rivals General Accident last Saturday and hope to begin their defence of the Super League on a high note.

  • Wisynco Group will meet Wray & Nephew in the final of the 2010 Scotiabank Group-sponsored Kingston & St Andrew Business House Football Knockout competition today at the UWI Bowl, Mona, starting at 3:30 pm.

    Both Division Two teams defeated Division One opponents Scotiabank Group and Jamaica National Building Society 2-1 last Saturday to reach the final.

    Wisynco Group are undefeated this season, and coincidentally, both teams also made it to the Division Two final on Tuesday.

    Scotiabank Jamaica has seen a significant jump in credit- and debit-card fraud, which hit J$150 million over nine months to July.

    The higher incidence of card fraud, said Bruce Bowen, president and chief executive officer of Scotia Group Jamaica Limited, is an industry-wide problem.
