This Month - Childs' Month our ScotiaVolunteers from subsidiaries, branches and departments across the Scotiabank Group will be involved in numerous activities focusing on creating a Bright Future for our children and enhancing our image as an institution that cares for children.
Tuesday, May 5, Read Across Jamaica Day - approximately 300 ScotiaVolunteers will read their favourite books to children in hospitals, children's homes and schools. Some senior managers and executives will read at our major project at the Marigold Child Care Centre, Lady Musgrave Road in Kingston.
Wednesday, May 6, Teachers' Day - again, approximately 300 ScotiaVolunteers will teach a class at their favourite school. Our focus this year is on responsible money management so there will be lessons for students on, What kids should know about money;and for teachers, volunteers from SJLIC and ScotiaDBG will partner with branch representatives to do presentations on, Coping financially in challenging economic times. Our major project will be at the Jones Town Primary School in Kingston.
Monday, May 26, National Labour Day - volunteers will work on at least eight major projects - beautifying and refurbishing five educational institutions, park maintenance and the construction of two houses, the latter will be our major projects in Montego Bay and Portland. We encourage branches to join the listed project in their parish to increase impact and visibility as our budget does not allow for more than one project per parish.
