• Greater Convenience and Simplicity for customers
KINGSTON - June 22, 2010: – Scotiabank customers in Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and the Bahamas can now use their mobile phones with internet access to check their account balances, pay bills, transfer funds and make credit card payments. This new Mobile Banking service which is expected to dramatically enhance Scotiabank’s service delivery was launched in Jamaica last Sunday, June 20, following earlier launches in the other Caribbean islands.
Scotiabank Mobile Banking which is being offered free to all Scotiabank customers is the bank’s latest service delivery channel aimed at bringing greater convenience and simplicity to customers.
Maya Johnston, Senior Vice President, Customer Experience, Technology Innovation & Projects says, “Mobile Banking is an expansion of our Scotia Online Banking which takes our service to a more modern and sophisticated level, as our customers will have access to their funds anytime and anywhere allowing them to make informed decisions before they spend and while they spend.”
Mrs. Johnston also added that the new Mobile Banking service is safe and secure operating on the same advanced security platform as Scotia OnLine Banking which allows customers to do banking transactions via their computers. Scotia OnLine Banking service was launched in 2003.
Scotiabank piloted its Mobile Banking service among its staff in March this year, using the services of the three local mobile service providers. It is estimated that over three million Jamaicans have at least one mobile phone and of this number over 1 million are Internet enabled.
